12 Films Heart is a multi-award-winning international short film festival that brings together twelve filmmakers, twelve eclectic short films, and ninety minutes of cinema—each one brimming with heart. Returning to FRINGE WORLD 2026 with an all-new selection, the festival showcases independent and underground creators who embrace a strong DIY aesthetic.
This year’s program spans multiple genres and themes: sometimes quirky, sometimes deeply moving, but always offering raw, heartfelt expression in myriad forms. Far from an ordinary short film showcase, 12 Films Heart highlights boundary-pushing ingenuity and heartfelt storytelling from around the world.
Winner of the FRINGE WORLD Film & Multimedia Award in both 2018 and 2019, the festival screens free to the public under the stars at the City of Perth Northbridge Piazza Superscreen, just a heartbeat from the Pleasure Garden.
As the sun sets, early birds can chill to the beats of FRINGE WORLD house band Swing Theory, who add their unique tapestry to the pre-show screening LIGHTBOX SLOW GLOW from 6:30 pm. The site opens one hour before the feature start time, where visitors can relax on the lawn with limited bean bag seating and savour the renowned culinary delights of Northbridge.
